Sining at Kultura (Arts and Culture)
Sining at Kultura, which translates to Art and Culture, is a website I created to bring creative people together. We feature artists, groups of artists, and a community of talented individuals, whose advocacies goes beyond the love for oneself. The power of these values, when combined, nurtures, grows, and it encourages positivity, hard work, determination, and continuous development. The story behind creating the website is simple. As I was growing up, I was exposed to music, both the local, foreign and folk songs “Kapampangan”. TV and mobile gadgets were not widely popular when I was small. I had pencils, papers, crayons, chalks and some blank walls where I could write, draw and act as a teacher who writes lectures on the blackboard.
Radio was a popular media, where one hears the news, drama series, requests for songs, talk to the DJ and listen to the announcements like power interruption, government office hours, events in the local area, product advertisements, and the announcements from the authority. It was a powerful media, and probably still is in some places.
About the author and founder
I have a strong passion for highlighting the talents and skills of people, specifically artists, in all their forms. I have a strong interest in producing informative and educational content, together with short documentary videos. I wrote and contributed short stories to the second “Digmaang Rosas” literary publication around 2006, fiction in Filipino, when I was in college at Holy Angel University. I wrote a couple of fiction stories by hand, scribbled on my notes, and made some cut-outs using old magazines to complete a story. I had a special childhood; it was more like growing up on your own as soon as you learn how to read and write.
Based in Denmark since 2015
We have lots of stories to tell, and I prefer to keep it simple. I have been featuring topics related to organic food, cultural places and practices, and some art in both Denmark and the Philippines since 2017 on my website www.bloomingetiquette.dk. I chose having a website, since it fits the form of art I do – writing. It is also a hobby to nerd around WordPress on my free time. I enjoy the support of my better half Jacob and my children in pursuing my small projects.
Values, mantra, beliefs
We live in the present, but the past is what shaped us as a person, and how we are today. We cannot bring back what was once said and done, but we can always learn from it. There was one time I was driving and got honked at the roundabout; that settled in my mind. I was never honked at again on the road since. Well, at least for the time being. 🙂 I do my best on the things that I have control of. My purpose is to serve my family and be a light to other people, both in my brightest and even in my darkest moments. Recognition is one thing, while acknowledgement is another thing. Life is a gift, and we should celebrate it. Our life here on earth is temporary, but the legacy we leave behind is more important than any success achieved.
